Entrants
The modern Festival is intended primarily for amateurs - defined as people who do not earn their living from the branch of performance in which they wish to compete. Some classes such as the Singing Gold Medal remain Open (for entry by anyone) with the aim of attracting young professionals to perform and maintain high standards. Entrants can be as young as 4 years old, and others continue to compete until well into older age!
Entrants can improve their performances by taking on board the advice given by the specialist adjudicators for each section. Most adjudicators come from The British and International Federation of Festivals and have been working in the performing arts for many years. They will be specialist teachers and performers and you can read a short biography of each adjudicator in the syllabus and programme.
